A Youth Who Achieved True Excellence!

He was only 8 years old when he began his reign in Jerusalem.

At 16 "he began to seek after" God.

At 20 he destroyed the idols and pagan temples that his father and grandfather had established.

When 36 he dusted off a neglected book and wept!

He died before he was 40 , but the Bible declares that non before or after him achieved his level of excellence:

And like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the Lord with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there any like him. 2 Kings 23:25

What book did he read?

Why did it make him weep?

What mighty deeds did he do after reading it?

Read the true story yourself and learn about the youth who:

Followed the counsel of a woman   prophetess.

Promised to "walk after the Lord, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies..."

Overturned the traditions and idols of his fathers (that is, his father and grandfather).

Brought the people of God back from apostasy, saving them from sure destruction!

Experience this youth's brokeness and that lead to his unparalleled victory!  Make time to sit down and read the deeds of Josiah in II Kings 22 & 23 and II Chronicles 34 & 35.

Desc5.jpg (6942 bytes) Reverence in the Sanctuary.

A recent tradition has been introduced into the worship service of many SDA churches, in which the congregation is encouraged to get up, walk around and visit with one another.  Is this in harmony with true reverence?

Faml2.jpg (34289 bytes) Proper Attitude in Prayer.

Of course we need not always kneel while praying.  While walking, in business transactions & driving a car are obvious exceptions, but what about when assembled in church, at school or during private worship?

Theater.jpg (15497 bytes) Theatrical Performances.

Theatrical Performances, drama and "skits" are becoming increasingly popular  in SDA Churches and Schools. What counsel are we given as disciples of Christ regarding the use of theatrical performances?

Buildings of JerusalemRichard T. Nowitz/Corbis Tread the Soil of Old Jerusalem?

SDA colleges, chutes and organizations now regularly offer "Holy Land Tours". What did Ellen White write about traveling to the "Holy Land"?  Did you know that she was encouraged to go there in preparation to write THE DESIRE OF AGES?  How did she respond?

Basketballagression.jpg (10741 bytes) SDA School Sports.

An ever increasing emphasis is now being placed on sports activities in SDA schools and institutions. What does the the Spirit of Prophecy say about to use of athletic competition in our schools.  Does it build good character?

What do Battle Creek and Loma Linda have in common?

Seventh-day Adventists know the state of the dead and so are immune to spiritualism, right?

Ellen White met spiritualism/mysticism head-on at the turn of the century at the center of our medical work at Battle Creek.  She termed this subtle mysticism the Alpha of Deadly Heresy, but predicted that an Omega would appear which would be of a most startling nature.
